What happens in a Reiki session?

In receiving Reiki, we enter a space which is accepting and aware. Our preoccupations and tensions can be acknowledge and released.
Through Reiki, we're assisted to return to equilibrium. We re-centre ourselves to live from our natural wellspring of energy. Body, mind and spirit are supported to restore.

What to expect

The client lies clothed on a massage table. The practitioner applies their hands to different areas of the body, correlating with the major organs. Each position is held for several minutes. A session lasts 60 minutes.

The experience

Reiki often begins with feelings of deep relaxation, warmth and energy. Tensions and blockages – known or unknown to the client – are released. The Reiki practitioner offers a supportive presence as the client rebalances on all levels.
The experience of Reiki, and the healing that occurs, are unique to each person and each session. The body has an inherent understanding of wholeness. Reiki is a catalyst for embodying this potential for wellbeing.

Origins of reiki

Reiki is the short-form of Usui Reiki Ryoho, the healing method of Mikao Usui, who taught in early 20th-century Japan. Reiki practitioners come from all walks of life; the method is not affiliated with any one religion or world-view.
